Watch Auction November 10th, 2024
Golden Traid Watchmakers Guild
The Golden Triad Watchmakers Guild is a group of hobbyist and professionals who work on watches and clock in the triad.
Watchmaking demands perfection. Unfortunately, that is something which cannot truly be attained. Yet, we strive for it, and we (hopefully) come very close.
Watches are not very forgiving. It only takes one piece of lint, or one speck of dust in the wrong place to bring a watch to a grinding halt. You only have to forget to oil one spot to destroy a component and cause a watch to stop. Watches demand perfection.
In the world of watchmaking, there are men and women who make the pursuit of horology something intellectual and very interesting as opposed to the mere collection of luxury status items. Watchmaking has always been at heart a scientific endeavor, but one that has been mixed with the art form. Each generation has its own “celebrity” watchmakers and these individuals are each quite interesting in their own unique ways. Talented and skillful, the people who make the most interesting watches today and yesterday dedicate their lives to working on a passionate pursuit that at least recently is no longer at the cutting edge of what society considers important. Today watches are perhaps more art than innovation.

The Golden Triad Watchmakers Guild meets once a month in the Triad

As watchmakers, we have to take special care to protect each component and make them function just right. This is especially true when we are talking about components the customer sees (such as the dial, hands, case, etc.) but it is also true of the components the customer will not see.
